We've MOVED! Please visit us at www.myfamilytopia.com. Thank you!

The Working Parent Project is an innovative program that offers lunch-time family enrichment workshops, at companies all over New England.

It’s no secret that working parents juggle multiple demands and competing priorities on a daily basis.

AND, it’s no secret that it can cost an employer up to 150 percent of a salaried worker's pay to find, hire, and train a new person. High turnover can add up to millions of dollars for your company.

The Working Parent Project aims to help employers reduce turnover and inspire employee loyalty, by providing a program that supports working parents.

So simple, but so important.

Fall and Winter Workshop Series

Familytopia is very excited to announce a fantastic schedule of fall and winter workshops. Contact us today for more information about how to bring Familytopia to your business.

October 2009: Getting Your Kids Through the Flu

With cold and flu season just around the corner, this workshop is the perfect way to help parents prepare. We will discuss fun ways to reinforce prevention methods with our children, as well as provide tips and activity ideas for passing those long days when they do get sick.

November 2009: Putting the GREAT in Grateful

An inspiring workshop created to help parents cultivate a sense of gratitude within their families. In these times of “not enough” and wanting more, we show parents how they can help their children see the abundance in their lives though simple family activities and discussions.

December 2009: Holiday Memories: Creating Traditions For Your Family

Family traditions during the holiday season help to create lasting and fond memories of childhood. This session helps parents reflect on the way their family celebrates the holiday season, offers ideas for new traditions and suggests some simple techniques for preserving the memories that we create during this special time of year.

January 2010: Writing a Family Mission Statement

Using the New Year for inspiration, this workshop gives parents a foundation on which to build their Family Mission Statement. Every family has a personality, and a set of beliefs and values. The act of articulating these values and committing them to paper can be very powerful. Family Mission Statements engage the entire family in identifying what they consider important, and provide a road map for how to live and interact with the community.

February 2010: Self-Esteem For Kids

Valentine’s Day provides parents with a valuable “teaching moment” for cultivating self-esteem in their children. This workshop gives parents a new way of looking at the topic, and will provide tips, and tools for how we can keep our children’s self-esteem in healthy shape.

March 2010: Family Moments in a Fast-Paced World

Out the door, off to your day, home again, dinner and then to bed: Where does the time go? When the day is over, parents often feel like they did not have time to connect with their family. This is common in our fast paced world. This workshop helps parents develop a plan for how to connect despite the chaos.

New workshop: "Generation Stressed" coming to Dorel in August!

We are pleased to offer "Generation Stressed" as the third and final workshop in our Dorel Summer series this August!

Today’s youth run from one activity to another, believing that their worth lies in how much they do. This has produced a generation of stressed out kids. Parents can help their children to explore their interests without burning out. Participants will leave with an action plan, a resource list, and ideas for ways we can help our children slow down and find peace in the moment, while creating a life of joy and fulfillment.

We have had a great summer getting to know the inspiring parents at Dorel!!

Workshop at Brown University on August 4th!

I will be presenting "Make Your Home a Creative Zone" at Brown on August 4th! Summer is technically the "quiet season" in academia, and I look forward to giving the hardworking members of the Brown Parents' Circle an opportunity to relax and bring home some great activity ideas!

Back to DJG in July!

Dorel Juvenile Group (the parent company of Safety First for all you parents out there) will host the second of a three part series on July 15th. “Family Moments in a Fast Paced World” was well received, and we’re going back for more!

“Make Your Home a Creative Zone” will be an interesting conversation. We’ll discuss creativity, the types of creativity and how to help our children flex their creative muscles. Dorel employees will leave with a resource list, the famous “toolkit”, and a lot of great ideas for ways to help our children become the next creative thinkers of the world. Don’t miss it!
